Custom Orthotics
Orthotics is custom-made shoe inserts are insoles specially made up of considering individual needs.
Orthotics is prescribed to treat foot, leg, or back problems. Orthotics is placed in the shoe to correct abnormal lower extremity and feet mechanics and alignment. Along with abnormal lower extremity and feet mechanics and alignment, it is also important to consider the influence of excessive muscle tightness and weakness of the foot leg muscles.
The factors influencing when making orthotics:
- Foot type
- The severity of abnormal motion at foot
- Weight and Height of the patient
- How often the patient wears insoles.
Orthotics can be prescribed for a variety of conditions:
- Back pain: poor positioning of the feet, such as high, arch, or low arch can cause pain in the back which orthotics can prevent.
- Flat feet: flat feet can cause ankle, foot, knee, and back pain. Orthotics can help to support feet and keep the feet in proper positioning and help with foot, ankle, knee, and back pain.
- Heel spur: heel spur is defined as extra bone on the back of the heel or bottom of hell. Orthotics can help to take off pressure from heel spur and reduce inflammation.
- Plantar fasciitis: if the feet are flat it put pressure on the plantar fascia and can cause plantar fascia inflammation. Plantar fascia inflammation can cause pain in the bottom of the foot, orthotics can help to support the facia and foot.
- Arthritis can cause discomfort and poor positioning of feet and ankle, orthotics can help to support the feet and ankles and reduce pain.
- Hallux valgus
- Interdigital Morton’s neuroma.
- Tendinopathy of Achilles, tibialis posterior tendon
- Shin pain.
- Later subluxation of patella.
- Patellofemoral pain dysfunction.
- Patella tendinopathy
- Tightening of IT Band
